The most track-capable AMG GT coupe, which starts at $197,050, is around $25,000 less expensive than the GT3 RS. The Mercedes is only a few thousand dollars less expensive than the Porsche 911 Turbo, but the powerful 640-hp Turbo S raises the difference to almost $35K. The Aston Martin Vantage, which has a front-engine layout with a V-8 engine with 656 horsepower, is similar to the GT63 Pro—.

A 603-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine powers each Mercedes-AMG GT63 Pro, and it is sent to all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic. Choosing the Pro treatment also entitles you to a number of racetrack-specific enhancements, such as water-cooled diffs, upgraded aero components for increased downforce, and improved brakes (carbon-ceramic rotors are standard).

Mercedes has offered a list of the GT63 Pro’s possible options, but it has not disclosed the prices for each one. Notably, there are a few desirable free extras, such as a front-axle lift system to protect the nose of the six-figure sports car, a pair of rear seats that fold to make the two-seater a 2+2, and the option to replace the standard Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires with more grippy Cup 2 R Extreme tires.

Subtly bigger front air vents and checkered flag insignia on the fenders and rear end set it apart from its less capable sister. It may be a real two-seater or a 2+2 with nearly useless rear seats. Although the Pro’s starting price has not yet been revealed, a Mercedes-AMG spokesman informed me that it should be approximately $200,000, which is roughly $20,000 more than a typical GT63. To be driving around a wet track for the first time, that’s a lot of vehicle, but I was there.
